General Manager


Location: Norfolk/Suffolk Border
Position: Full Time/Permanent
Salary: C45 to 55k plus benefits

Our company is a 100 year old artisanal Italian Ice Cream Manufacturer and Supplier of Frozen Desserts. We have now reached an exciting point in our business where we are looking to expand and now require an addition to our busy team.

We have an immediate requirement for an experienced General Manager with exemplary leadership and management qualities.

The role is days based Monday to Friday, although some flexibility will be required.

It is envisioned that the role will be split between office sales and factory environments.

Job Purpose:
-To motivate and manage all sales and operational functions in accordance with the agreed budget and in compliance with Health and Safety legislation

Relationships and Authority:
-Reports to the Directors
-Manages all aspects of the day to day operations on site

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Office:
-Agree the monthly sales targets with the sales team
-Oversee the smooth running of the office and related procedures

Production: 
-Agree the weekly production targets with Production Manager and manage the manufacturing costs while also ensuring that product quality targets are met
-Through a well-managed stock system ensure all materials are controlled to allow all lines to run in accordance to production plans

Quality:
-To work with the Production Manager to ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements
-Ensure the site is in an audit ready state at all times and that documentation is accurate and up to date

Waste Control:
-Monitor and minimise raw materials and production waste levels within the factory on a continuous improvement basis

Purchasing, Storage and Distribution:
-Responsible for the purchasing of all production related materials at best price and of appropriate quality for the intended purpose
-To coordinate the safe, efficient and cost-effective deliveries and dispatch from all vehicles on site

Training & Development:
-Be responsible for all recruitment, performance management and disciplinary processes concerning staff
-To effectively lead, develop and motivate employees towards high standards of personal performance   
-Organisation of all staff, time sheets, holidays etc, employment of new staff, review of wages and job titles and resolving issues

Health and Safety
-Monitor and develop procedures to ensure that the Company has the appropriate structures, systems and processes in place to meet its statutory Health and Safety responsibilities

Person Specification:
Entry Qualifications, Experience and skills:
-Food Production Management or Quality management experience
-Knowledge of occupational health and safety principals and practice
-Excellent organisational, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills
-Good knowledge of Employment Legislation
-Strong knowledge of Health and Safety as per HSE guidelines
-Ability to work in a team environment and lead that team
-Self-motivated
-Ability to set goals and monitor
-Good Leadership and motivational skills
-Ability to train and supervise personnel
-Attention to detail
-Good computer literacy skills
-Awareness and ideally use of various improvement/problem solving tools
