UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE

Facilities Manager

Department of Physics £35,550 - £47,722 REF: KA14818

The Department of Physics is currently recruiting to the position of Facilities Manager to provide a professional facilities management service in support of teaching and research. The role holder will be responsible for the maintenance and servicing of a diverse collection of 10 old and new laboratory buildings consisting of wet and dry laboratories, biological laboratories, clean rooms, cryogenics, workshops, offices and a canteen kitchen.

The key technical requirement of the role is to ensure that the older buildings are maintained whilst making a significant contribution towards the planning for and transition to a brand new consolidated laboratory building, Cavendish Ill.

This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic professional with hard and soft facilities management experience and sound knowledge of building, mechanical and electrical plant across several trades to continue and extend excellent support for the Department's physical infrastructure, including developing the staff involved in service delivery. The successful candidate will have excellent people and project management skills, and be confident in the use of computerised building control systems. They will also be very well-organised with a high degree of initiative and ability to plan as well as keep records and produce reports.

As this role has a critical role to play in the development of plans for the new building, openness to change and an ability to engage effectively with academic and technical staff throughout the Department and with University Estate Management colleagues and contractors is vital, as is the willingness to work as part of a team.
