We are looking to recruit an employment law writer/editor, to work on our web-based knowledge and resources content. The role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with a minimum of 3 days a week.

The location for the position will include regular time at our London office (min 2 days a week), with the option for home-based working on the remaining days.

Our members are employers within the manufacturing and engineering sector, we provide them with up-to-date information on compliance with employment law, guidance on good practice and the recommended approach, together with a wide range of model and template documentation.

This role will suit an individual with editorial and writing skills, employment law expertise and knowledge of HR/ER good practice. Your background could range from being an academic or an employment law journalist, to a legal or HR professional who is keen to translate their expertise into practical guidance for employers. You will work alongside a team of employment law solicitors, HR consultants and our digital team.

Any first-hand experience or knowledge of the HR or employment law topics which are particularly relevant to the manufacturing/engineering sector, would be an advantage.
We have been established for over 120 years and are the UK's leading trade body focused in the Manufacturing and Engineering Sector. We offer a range of professional services to our members and also to non-member organisations - principally HR & legal, health & safety, climate & environmental advisory, training & consultancy.

You will need:

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and/or HR/employee relations
  • Excellent written communication skills, ability to explain technical legal issues and HR challenges in a clear, concise and accessible way.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to recognise the impact of legislation and case law on the workplace
  • To be able to contribute ideas for new content
  • The ability to prioritise work to reflect business needs and to work under own initiative, taking responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of output
  • To be able to work with content management systems to upload, edit, publish and manage online content
  • In touch with web trends and familiar with social media use
  • We ask that all job applicants share our company-wide commitment to putting the Customer First.

If you are invited to an interview, you will be required to demonstrate a good understanding of customer service and to provide examples of having delivered customer service to a high standard.
