Editor, Huntingdon

We are looking for an Editor for the Hunts Post who will inspire teams to produce the best content possible to meet the wants and needs of local audiences. They will work closely with the Group Editor to realise and champion the vision for the content function with responsibility for multiple titles, platforms and products. 

The Hunts Post is a market-leading free newspaper for Huntingdonshire and South Cambridgeshire. Through its newspaper, website, e-edition and social media channels, it provides unrivalled coverage of local news, sport and events.

Candidates must have strong digital vision, putting online news at the heart of the newsroom and producing a wide range of content, including video and social media. You will be adept at using analytics to monitor site growth and evaluate content performance.

It is imperative you have strong background in the newsroom, ideally as an editor. You will be a fully qualified journalist who understands the pressures of a newsroom and the need to work out of hours when needed. You will be based in our Huntingdon offices. 

YOU WILL:

  • Drive the audience-focused content agenda for the team
  • Create inspiring and innovative digital strategy
  • Understand hyper-local audience and how to engage
  • Hold regular news conferences for weekly forward-planning meetings
  • Manage and coach your team
  • Create forums to generate discussion
  • Be an ambassador for the titles at awards/events
  • Work well with the commercial teams to support revenue potential
  • Create and nurture relationships within the community
