The Camden Society provides a range of innovative and modern services enabling people with a learning disability to live full and satisfying lives

We are seeking a Community Support Leader for our supported living service in Haringey. The service provides support for new homes for people coming out of hospital, treatment services and residential homes. You can help a group of individuals to settle into their homes, engage in activities in the community and build up their lives.

The people we support have a range of needs including severe learning disabilities, mental health and Autism. Our team must be flexible and forward thinking to support people to progress and achieve their dreams.

We are looking for a dedicated and diverse team of staff, we will support you to gain additional and specialised training as part of your role.

About the Role:

The Community Support Leader will lead and manage team to deliver support that is in line with the wishes, aspirations, comfort and safety of the people using the service. They will ensure the quality of support is maintained at all times and that it complies with regulatory requirements and the Societys policies and procedures.

The Community Support Leader will expertly develop and facilitate circles of support around people, using a range of person centred approaches and tools to help people take control. A key focus of the role will be to develop, implement and review Positive Behaviour Support Plans.

The Community Support Leader will be an activator within peoples local communities. They will work to promote and build tangible opportunities within the community for greater inclusion and opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will hold a qualification in social care, management or other relevant field with previous experience of working with people with a learning disability in a community setting, and experience of working with people with autism, mental health and complex needs.

You will have experience of setting and controlling a budget and of assessment and individual planning systems including Person Centred Planning. You will also have excellent planning and decision making abilities and be able to manage a demanding workload and balance priorities. You will also have the ability to communicate effectively and relate to a wide range of people and groups.

You will have the ability to work creatively to make connections in the local community and to initiate, develop and create new and stimulating activities in a safe environment. You will have the ability to supervise and motivate a staff and to ensure that good practice is developed and implemented throughout the service.

You will have an understanding of the issues facing young people and adults with a learning disability and their primary carers, and have a working knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Care Act 2014.

Ideally you will be a good communicator, with knowledge of Makaton, and other non-verbal methods of communication is also highly desirable.
