CNC Operator (Timber) £27,300 (goes up to £28392 after 3 month probation inc shift allowance)

My client is a leading player in the joinery market, who have been in business since 1960, delivering highly customised joinery solutions to the Commercial, Residential, Office, Education and Retail sectors.

They are looking for someone with at least a year's experience Operating a CNC machine, who has knowledge and experience working with Timber Materials and previous experience working in a Factory Environment. There is training & career progression within this organised and forward looking company, and you will be working in a modern, clean and tidy environment.

Reporting to the Machine shop Supervisor, the role is to manage the complete process of CNC machining. The role will include loading CNC programs into the machine, setting the machine to suit, operate the CNC, checking the machining against the drawings, palletising all cnc panels following standard process and maintain the machine according to manufacturer recommendation.

 

Responsibilities

  • In line with the planned manufacturing schedule and machine shop supervisor instruction, machine all the different job folders in the correct sequence.
  • Ensure that correct program is used for machining and that the machining is as per the drawing issued.
  • Ensure that all the documentations are updated to record the work achieved
  • Ensure that the panels are safely loaded onto the machine.
  • Ensure that the machining quality is to expected standards by monitoring the quality of cut. Report any issues back to the supervisor.
  • Flag up any concerns regarding material quality or machining accuracy.
  • Monitor CNC time versus planned time
  • Ensure that the machine is maintained and cleaned at the end of each shift in line with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Maintain the machine in line with recommendations.

General Duties

  • Challenge current ways of working to increase shopfloor efficiency
  • Ensure factory housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Ensure health & safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Ensure Environmental standards are maintained at all times
  • Assist with other business manufacturing processes whenever required.

Qualification

  • Previous experience on operating CNC machine is necessary.
  • Knowledge of CNC programing would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of timber material specification is necessary.
  • Previous experience in working in a factory environment would be an advantage

Additional training could be provided for the right individual. 

 

Hours of work:

Working hours could be alternated to the below. The frequency is depending on operators but they have to be aware of shift hours expectation

Shift 1 =               Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm

Shift 2 =               Monday to Thursday 11:30am to 8:30pm

                              Friday 8am to 12pm

Hourly rate

  • Weekly paid – One week in hand
  • Hourly rates start at £12.50 (reviewed after 3 months going to £13 if successful).
  • Overtime is paid at 1.5 after completion of the 40 hours per week.
  • Shift allowance is paid at 1.25 after 4:30pm when working on late shift.
