In addition, it operates the Norfolk Showground, a major venue and successful, fast-growing, event management business. More information can be found on our website by clicking the 'apply' button.

Opportunity

We have a very rare opportunity for a talented, experienced and innovative business leader to join the RNAA.  In this pivotal role and highly visible role, you will need to bring exceptional skills to bear, showing wholehearted commitment to the achievement of the Associations goals and objectives. You will be adept at developing and nurturing relationships with a wide and complex range of prominent stakeholders and business partners and be both willing and able to shape and embody the RNAAs culture.

Reporting to, and working closely with, the Trustees of the RNAA, the Chief Executive is accountable for the day to day leadership of the RNAA, the implementation of the RNAAs strategic plan and the promotion of its charitable purpose and objectives.

The Chief Executive, in accordance with good charity governance, is not a member of the Board but takes delegated authority from the Board in all aspects.

Your role will be to drive the organisation forward with the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to develop the team as well as deal effectively with a wide group of influential stakeholders, including volunteer stewards.

The Candidate

You should have a proven success at a senior management / board level ideally gained in the third sector, and a good understanding of the distinctive requirements of the operation of a charity.  It would also be preferable for you to have previous involvement in the agricultural, leisure, entertainment or environment sectors.

You should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of improving organisational performance and implementing effective change in a complex environment, combining commercial awareness, entrepreneurial flair and sound financial management skills.  You should also have experience of managing and developing commercial property and estates.

You should also be able to provide evidence of your ability to promote strong cultural values within an organisation and success in achieving engagement with your team and wider workforce (in our case, our vast volunteer population) to create and sustain a reputation as an employer of choice.

This role does put you in the spotlight, so prior experience in representing your organisation with the media is vital together with demonstrable interest in food, farming, the countryside and agriculture.

The Package

In return for your enthusiasm and commitment, we will actively develop the successful candidate and offer a package of pay and benefits, including life assurance and pension, together with generous annual leave.

As with any senior role, you will have a packed schedule and necessarily will be required to have a great deal of flexibility when we are at our peak in Show season, as well as to attend business meetings and conferences, which will include occasional overseas travel.
