ROYSTON GOLF CLUB (the Club) is a private members 18-hole golf club, situated on the Therfield Heath at the edge of the town of Royston 13 miles south of Cambridge. The Club is celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2017 but golf has been played on the Therfield Heath for almost 130 years.
The catering operation has been successfully run by the incumbent Chef for the past three years, during which time he has provided a premium quality service to the Club providing a day to day service for members in addition to catering for functions and special occasions. Our Chef is moving on to pursue other interests.
The Franchise offered is on a 3-year renewable contract, commencing May 2017 (or earlier by negotiation). The Franchisee pays a franchise fee in return for which: The Club provides the kitchen and its equipment; all maintenance and replacement of equipment; and supplies all utilities.

The Clubhouse overlooks Therfield Heath. Internally it is divided into: Lounge, Dining Room and Spike Bar. The screens between the Lounge and Dining Room can be removed to create a larger open area. The Dining Room and Spike Bar each can seat around 30, the Lounge can seat 60. Combined the Lounge and Dining Room can seat 90. Catering turnover in 2016 was in excess of £100,000.00.
The Club has a full diary of events that includes: Inter-club and intra-club matches; members and private functions; club dinners (monthly and annual); Rotary Club meetings (weekly); and lunch clubs. The Club is a popular society venue by reason of the all year-round playability of the Course.
The Quality Service the Club demands:
A full restaurant service for members and non-members;
A full catering service for member and non-member functions including: weddings; anniversaries; private parties; conferences; wakes and theme nights;
A full catering service for all golf club related social functions including club matches and visiting society days;
Hot and Cold bar snacks and breakfasts;
A qualified and experienced chef. Whilst experience working in a golf club is not necessary the successful candidate must demonstrate a confidence in providing his or her services in a golf club environment.
Commercially minded with a track record for developing a catering business;
A team player willing and able to work in partnership with the club;
Have excellent communication skills;
Flexible in terms of man-power, to cope with the fluctuating demands of the membership and visitors;
Have a proven record of Food Hygiene and compliance to Safety Standards at Level 5 (NFHRS) and all other relevant regulations;
Have high personal and professional standards and be able to demonstrate an attention to detail and excellent customer service;
Conversant with all relevant employment regulations relating to its staff and have a proven track record in the management of staff.
