At James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we have much to be proud of. In 2015 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as Good, providing external evidence of how we care for our patients.

A planned re-visit to the hospital in August 2016 shows that the hospital has:
retained its overall rating of Good.
seen all of the eight core service areas rated as Good, including end of life care and surgery where we were previously rated as requires improvement.
received an outstanding rating for the quality of care offered to patients reaching the end of their lives which means the hospital now has two outstanding ratings, the other for leadership of urgent and emergency services.

This is supported by both our patient and staff survey results; we have also been rated as one of the top 100 employers for two years by the Health Service Journal.

We provide acute hospital services to the population of Great Yarmouth and Waveney and a substantial number of visitors to the surrounding area of Norfolk and north Suffolk. Our first priority is to ensure our patients always come first.

In April 2017, David Wright will stand down as our Chairman after five years in the role, having overseen a steady improvement in our performance.

We are now seeking to appoint someone who will share our ambition and use their expertise, passion and commitment to lead and support the organisation through what could be a very challenging period, ensuring that the patient remains our focus.

Overall, although we are doing well, the financial situation is difficult.

There are however exciting opportunities for the Trust to embrace the level of change required, by doing things very differently.

We will need to be bold in our decision making, to place us at the forefront of innovative practice, working closely with a number of organisations and other providers. This is an opportunity to make a real contribution to the healthcare of the local community.

We are specifically looking for someone who understands the complexity of the health and public services and who can demonstrate successful partnership working, by delivering innovative solutions for long standing problems.

If you are passionate about delivering continuous and collaborative improvement in healthcare services and would like to lead a team described by the CQC as an executive team which impressed them both individually and collectively, were well known to their staff and led them through an open door policy, we want to hear from you.

It is expected that candidates will meet with the existing Chair and the Chief Executive, separately, as part of the selection process.
