Business Development Role

 

The Salary Level is circa £21 - 24k per annum, subject to experience + 30 days holiday (including public holidays).

Reporting directly to the Sales Director, this internal Business Development role is considered
pivotal within our business.
The role would suit an individual keen to expand this role on a long-term basis or with the ambition to progress to a more senior role within the Sales & Marketing team or other departments within the company.

 

Key objectives

 

With agreed department targets for new and existing business, the successful candidate will work with the team ensuring the focus is on the following key tasks:

 

New Business

  • Being the first point of contact for all telephone, email and internet sales enquiries, to qualify and progress enquiries as required. To work with the Sales Director to prioritise the booking of external meetings and then ensuring these are then planned into the diary as effectively as possible.
  • Maintain all necessary contact with potential clients to ensure a solid pipeline of potential business is developed and maintained to contribute towards the companys overall targets.
  • Following up on our bespoke campaigns, within agreed timescales and report as required.
  • Assisting the Sales Director with occasional client visits and training sessions, also attending exhibitions.
  • Assisting in the preparation of post-meeting follow up quotations and documentation.

     

    Account Management & Customer Support

  • Working in conjunction with the team to ensure we maintain suitable levels of contact with our clients.
  • To take a proactive approach in supporting existing clients, with the use of our products and other services and to help towards maintaining our customer retentions rates.
  • To assist the Sales Director in helping to identify any upselling opportunities.
  • To assist in gathering and reporting any customer feedback to allow this to be captured as part of our continuous product development programme.

     

    Office Duties

  • Acting as one of the first points of contact for telephone and email enquiries, handling all enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner, often to tight timescales.
  • General office duties including recording all actual or potential client contact onto our internal management information system.
  • To provide cover for various activities as carried out by other members of the Sales and Marketing team, as necessary.

 

Customer contact experience, gained as working as part of a sales or customer service team, would be useful but is not essential. But, we are seeking someone with drive, initiative and lots of common sense. Someone who possesses excellent communication skills, who is comfortable dealing at both Director and Manager level.  Furthermore, your IT competency, particularly in MS Office, will need to be at a suitable level for a technology-based company.

 

This mainly office based, though at times client-facing role, requires the candidate to work on their own initiative utilising excellent communication skills and have an eye for detail.

 

Training on the sectors we work in will be provided to the successful applicant, regardless of experience, as we are a very specialised business.
