Apprentice SEN Teaching Assistant Level 3 English Literacy Specialist

Will acquire specialist knowledge whilst working with the SEN department, focusing on the individual needs of children, especially with English.
Will be required to support pupils with a range of learning needs and help pupils to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and individually. For example:
- Delivering brief, intensive and structured precision support sessions;
- To help develop students independence skills;
- To work alongside teachers to assist with planning, preparation and assessment;
- To re-frame tasks to help pupils make progress;
- Identify SEN and employ appropriate strategies to support;
- Developing appropriate resources to support children.
Additional specialist training will be provided in respect of working with children with special educational needs and numeracy support work.
Will also be required to establish constructive relationships with students, promote inclusion and acceptance of all children and provide the necessary pastoral care to enable children to feel secure and happy. You will be required to deal with enquiries in a professional manner and comply with Health & Safety and Safeguarding regulations, as outlined by the Academy, at all times.
You will also be required to support the class teacher in various tasks in order to support teaching and contribute to the reviews of childrens progress as appropriate.
Will be asked to run breakfast and afterschool clubs.
Hours of work - 37.5hrs per week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday 8am to 3.30pm
Qualifications & Skills required - should have a C grade profile at GCSE or equivalent. Due to the nature of the position, B grade or equivalent at English and Maths would be desirable. As part of the pre-employment check process, proof of qualifications will be required. Must have an interest in SEN and working with children with a wide range of additional needs. Must have very strong maths and English skills, together with the ability to communicate.
Training via Gt Yarmouth College leading to City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
