TARCG are now seeking a Part 21-J Airworthiness Design Engineer to join our client based in Gatwick. Our client is the UK's aviation regulator and recognised as a world leader in its field, enabling the aviation industry to meet the highest safety standards.

As Part 21 - J Airworthiness Design Engineer you will act as a technical expert in the identified certification discipline and to assist the wider Airworthiness team in achieving the aims of the Airworthiness capability group.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate aircraft, engines, propellers, equipment, systems and their modifications (both those from UK Design Organisations and those provided for validation under Bilateral arrangements) for finding of compliance with airworthiness requirements.
  • Enact type design liaison responsibilities on aircraft and make recommendations as appropriate to colleagues (including other Regulatory Agencies to ensure continued airworthiness and safety standards are met.
  • Ensure aircraft in-service defects including MORs are investigated and all necessary action taken to maintain safety standards. Take direct airworthiness safety intervention measures where necessary including in-service difficulties / incidents and accidents to ensure the continued safety of participants and third parties.
  • Represent AWD in decision making committees and working groups internally and externally, nationally and internationally from a design standpoint.
  • Identify and coordinate research or contribute into areas of significant airworthiness concern.
  • To audit the safety of approved organisations and to assess their compliance with the relevant regulation and to do so in line with PBR principles.
  • Hold Industry Accountable Managers and senior post holders to account for managing safety.
