Well, look no further as this could be the ideal career opportunity for you! We’re currently searching for a Head of Electronics and controls focused around electrification. The Head of Electronics will work with the Technical Director, Chief design engineer to continue to develop business relationships, technical advice to new and existing customers.

Each candidate’s interests, proficiencies, and professional development goals into consideration when assigning tasks. At the same time, the candidate will be expected to be comfortable learning on the job and approaching new topics.

Main Purpose of Role

* To lead the Electronics & Controls department

* Provide technical lead for Electronics & Controls for all Advanced Engineering, and Motorsports projects.

* Work closely with the Technical Director, Group Production Manager, Production Co-ordinator, Workshop Manager and Chief Designer (plus representatives thereof) to implement and manage resource plans for the Electronics & Controls department.

* To oversee and manage, where necessary, multi-departmental projects. Such projects will need to be Electronics or Controls biased.

* Develop the strategic direction of the department.

* Developing a viable commercial portfolio of Electronic products.

* Responsible for developing a class-leading Controls & Electronics capability.

* Apply best practice and establish standard policies and procedures for the function.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

* To manage the day to day activities of the Electronics and Controls department.

* To act as the technical lead, and responsible Engineer, for project activities involving control systems, and electronics.

* Support the Technical Director in developing the strategic direction of the Controls & Electronics function of the business.

* Define and implement the operational budget of the Controls & Electronics function.

* Support and guiding the development of the department staff members.

* Ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

Key Skills Requirements

* Experienced in Control Systems, and Electronics Engineering.

* Knowledge of at least one Electronics CAD package

* Strong experience of electronics hardware design, specifically design for automotive applications

* Experience in software for embedded systems, ideally Microchips’ PIC and ARM Cortex based devices

* Experienced Catia user

* Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members

* Skills dealing with customers and suppliers in a professional manner

* Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills

* Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements

* A creative thinker not afraid to suggest new ways of doing things

* A hands-on approach to support production and workshop activities as required

* Knowledge of Microsoft packages.

Special aptitudes

* Ability to complete work to a very high standard, often to very tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.

* Flexible attitude and willing to attend weekend events if required

* Ability to manage small and dynamic teams

* Willing to work additional hours to ensure tasks are completed on time
