A small alternative provision based in Bexley with an excellent reputation has a vacancy for a part-time Tutor to teach Construction. Pupils in this setting have been diagnosed with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and can display challenging behaviours. They require a strong and confident leader with excellent knowledge in construction to engage students in work which will give them empowering skills for their life and career after leaving School.

The Provision:

The successful provision provides at risk pupils aged 5 - 16 with access to education and behavior intervention and a separate site for 16+ young people. Students attend the provision for short term (6 weeks to 1 term) placements during which their progress is carefully tracked and staff work to improve both academic and attitude outcomes. The setup of the classes are small class sizes of a 1-5 ratio children to adult and each class has a Behaviour support Mentor. The staff team are all passionate individuals who work collaboratively to offer the best and most flexible teaching methods for their students. They understand that each and every student comes with a different set of challenges and only after careful planning and building relationships with these pupils will they ‘get through’ and see these young people achieve, and better yet, with a sense of pride whilst doing it!

The role:

Teaching modules; Bricklaying, Trowel, Painting & Decorating, Plastering and Tiling

As a Tutor you will be required to plan and lead sessions in your vocational skill, delivering tailored education programmes. You will be a positive role model who is able to provide pupils with useful knowledge and advice on a 1-1 and group basis. The successful Tutor will not only impart knowledge but build students confidence and self-esteem.
