This highly regarded company are based in South Cambridgeshire and have a newly established research group dedicated to the art of Data Science. They are looking for exceptional Physicists and Applied Mathematicians to join their team as Data Scientists. The Physicists / Mathematicians will be highly numerate and will use their prior experience of Data Science (Machine Learning, Signal & Image Processing, Multivariate Analysis etc) to deliver real-world solutions to unique technology development problems. This is the perfect job for a Physicist or Applied Mathematician who wants an exciting and challenging role reflecting their abilities coupled with the rewards of job satisfaction, career development and of course an exceptional remuneration package!

The new group specialise in Data Science -extracting meaningful information from all manner of data sources -sensors & signals, instrumentation, audio/video streams, statistical datasets -even 'internet chatter' etc. The Physicist will wear many hats: Scientist, Project Manager and Key Technical Contributor. You will work on a myriad of projects, mining structured and unstructured data for a wide range of clients covering scientific instruments, industrial machinery, consumer goods, healthcare, telecommunications -and many more. These projects are fascinating and highly varied - from audio signal & image processing, data from 'Internet of Things' devices, Virtual Reality, high volume manufacturing & yield data.

The Physicists / Mathematicians / Data Scientists will extrapolate and analyse the raw data from systems (and sometimes public sources) helping to find key insights. It is from this data that you will identify the small breakthroughs, the tiny nuggets that can have dramatic impact on their client's direction and potentially have major impact on the technology landscape as a whole.

To be considered for the role of Physicist / Data Scientist you need the following:

* An excellent degree and ideally a post-graduate qualification (MSc, MPhys, MMath, MRes, MEng, PhD, Doctorate, EngD, DPhil etc) in physics or possibly applied mathematics, computer science etc.
* Prior experience of some of the following: Python, Java, Scala, R, Hadoop, Spark, OpenCV, D3, React, Elastic Search, Kibana, Image Processing, machine learning, AI, Internet of things (IoT) , Scientific Signal Processing, Multivariate Analysis or similar data modelling etc
* Experience of extrapolating structured & unstructured data and analysing it in order to draw tangible solutions.
