We are looking for a Production Commissioning Engineer to test, document and commission products for a company based in Royston. Responsibilities * Responsible for planning the work priorities of their area * Working as part of a team to ensure work is completed to required schedules * Instrumental in the team hitting work output and quality targets * Involvement in production improvements * Sharing responsibility for implementing continuous improvements * Involved in the implementation of lean manufacturing philosophies Requirements * ONC / HND / BTEC / City and Guilds in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or equivalent * Technician / Apprentice Trained, or substantial relevant experience * Considerable knowledge of working in a technical environment within a high-tech engineering / manufacturing company * Significant time spent in a precision assembly environment * Extensive understanding of mechanical / electrical / electronic build and assembly * Appreciation of precision mechanisms and their mechanical and electrical content * Ability to read mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings * Familiar with full range of mechanical engineering materials, finishes and tolerances * Electrical experience of wiring, fault finding, electrical testing practices * PC / IT literate with the range of Microsoft Office products and relevant hardware configure and test programs * Proven mechanical and electrical assembly skills * Good test abilities * Able to read and understand electrical drawings * Able to read and understand mechanical drawings * Understand importance of Q/T/C within a production build environment * Able to plan own work schedules and effort * Effective problem-solving skills * Professional / conscientious manner of working * Safety conscious * Team worker * Able to work under pressure * Effectively manage time and prioritise workload * Self motivated * Keen for knowledge and new skills * Enthusiastic approach to tasks * Ability to multi-task * Flexible and confident * Attention to detail * Good documentation skills * Effective communicator The following would be beneficial: * Laboratory skills * Biological / Chemistry knowledge * Understand basic scripted programs * Computer skills - Microsoft Office, Windows * Willingness to work away from home and travel overseas as and when necessary * Commercial awareness; customer handling * Ability to provide accurate timescale estimates * Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
