Weekend Grounds Maintenance Operative Salary: £7824 per annum Location: East London Hours of Work: 8am – 5pm (Saturday & Sunday) Description: Maintain all company grounds, waterways and highways, ensuring areas are maintained in accordance with pre-planned maintenance programmes and to the required standard. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Strong customer services focus based on service excellence • One year’s previous experience of maintaining estate grounds. • Good command of the English language and able to write reports • Must be polite, courteous with a smart and clean appearance • Available for work out of hours including weekends if necessary • A good understanding and working knowledge of Health & Safety • Full clean UK driving license desirable MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Clean designated roads, paths and surface water drains across the site to ensure areas are free of leaves, debris, litter, ice and snow through all seasonal weather conditions and at all times. • Undertake a wide range of hard and soft landscape maintenance duties, e.g. weed control, litter picking, leaf clearing, drainage work, highway maintenance etc. • Routinely inspect the play areas, identifying defects, trip hazards, damage, vandalism, unlawfully parked vehicles, ensuring general safety and security, reporting any issues as required. • Operate and be responsible for a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including, but not restricted to, utility vehicles, road sweepers, jet washers and chewing gum removal machine. • Maintain grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles to a safe working condition at all times, communicating equipment renewals and taking action to prevent any impact to service delivery. • Inspect and clean street furniture, sculptures, display boards and signs across the site. • Assist service providers and site management staff as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems such as street lighting, irrigation and pump sets. • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and also kept secure when not in use, carrying out regular tool inventory inspections and ensuring tools are only used by authorised personnel. • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and procedures when carrying out maintenance duties, reporting any potentially unsafe working practices to management as appropriate. • Wear personal protective equipment provided at all times and ensure equipment is kept in a serviceable state of repair, reporting any damage or wear to the Facilities Manager. • Be available for emergency call-out, including emergency work outside normal working hours in connection with the site public estate. • Assist with defects liability management, ensuring all defects identified are reported. • Deal with inquiries from members of the public courteously and in a helpful manner. • Undertake any other duty as requested by the Line Manager or acting Line Manager as might be reasonably expected or required, including assistance with ad-hoc projects. **Due to the large number of applications received we are unable to respond to every applicant
