Medacs Healthcare are in partnership with a nationwide care provider to recruit Support Workers in Potters Bar at their supported living service Morven House for young people with learning disabilities and complex needs. The service has been designed for young people aged 18-25 who may have lived in residential schools or residential care services and who aspire to have a place of their own. The main aim of a Support Worker is to help residents with learning disabilities to learn to live as independently as possible, by identifying and supporting them in their particular areas of need. The role is a permanent position and you will be contracted to 37.5 hours a week, £8.59 p/h. Shift times between 07.00 - 21.30 however specific rota patterns will be discussed further at interview. The team will deliver housing related support, personal care and learning opportunities. Tenants may require one-to-one support with all aspects of learning and daily living, while others will be much less reliant on support workers. The team is flexible and will work closely with the individual and their circle of external supporters. Main Duties and Responsibilities: * To participate in the day-to-day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment * To maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families and other whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality * To support service users with the preparation of meals, laundry duties, cleaning and social events * To maintain accurate notes and records as and when required * To work as part of a team to provide high quality care Successful Candidates for this role will have: * NVQ in Health & Social Care or be willing to work towards * The ability to keep calm under pressure * Confidence to work alone or work well in a team * Excellent communication skills * Passion to support and work with vulnerable adults * Desire and commitment to high standards of safeguarding Experience in Support Work is desired but not essential - a genuine commitment to help support those with a variety of disabilities is the key to a successful candidate!
