We are currently seeking an Engineering Stores Assistant to join a very well-established engineering firm close to Stanton in Suffolk. This is a great chance to join a very stable workforce in a full-time permanent capacity.

Our client have been designing and manufacturing machinery agricultural markets for over 40 years and have achieved enormous success due to their reputation for quality products. They are also a great employer, who look after and keep their staffmany of their workers have been there for 10+ or even 20/30+ years! 

This position will be based within the very busy yet well-organised Stores Department, working within a team of 10. This role will focus on the speedy and accurate picking of parts for assembly kits to go out onto the shop floor, for the fitters to assemble complete products. It will involve picking parts from the stores from a list, working a week ahead of the production schedule. Once full kits are ready, you will then need to get items onto a trolley ready to be taken to the fitting and assembly side of the factory. It will also involve using a forklift truck to move some of the larger items around the site, and our client are happy to provide training, so no forklift licence is required.

Other duties involve: 
Keeping up with the production schedule to ensure required kits and parts are available
Chasing up any material shortages; liaising with the purchasing team to ensure items are on their way and communicating any hold-ups that may affect the production schedule to the Stores Manager or Production Manager
Picking of items for assembly; both small and large. Working from assembly lists to ensure every part needed for assembly and fitting is made available at the right time 
Movement of items, both manually using lifting, trolleys etc. as well as using a forklift truck for large items
Assist in maintaining inventory in the stores area by tracking usage of items
Complete all documentation and processes; logging movement of supplies, materials and finished goods
Working as part of a busy team, ensure high standards of communication are upheld; communicating any shortages, issues, surpluses etc. to relevant colleagues

We are seeking the following skills and experiences:
Experience in a stores-based or warehousing role within a manufacturing firm
Good picking skills; fantastic attention to detail and the desire to get it right first time
Good level of numeracy and literacy as well as IT skills and confidence in learning a new system
An organised, flexible and adaptable working style and attitude
Fantastic communication skills; an open team player who shares information and knowledge and is unafraid to ask questions
Good awareness of health and safety in the workplace; the ability to uphold H&S standards at all times and appreciate and respect their importance
A full UK driving licence

Our client are offering a very competitive basic hourly rate for a core working week of 39 hours per week, working from 8am 4:30pm Mon to Thurs, and 8am 3:30pm each Friday. There is the opportunity to work up to 3 hours of overtime each day at time and a third rate, as well as occasional Saturday mornings at double time rate.
