Queen Mary, University of London is one of the UK's leading research-focused higher education institutions. We teach and research across a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, law, medicine and dentistry, and science and engineering. Based in a creative and culturally diverse area of east London, we are the only London University able to offer a completely integrated residential campus, with a 2,000-bed award-winning student village at our Mile End home.

The department of Maintenance & Infrastructure is responsible for the maintenance of all Queen Mary, University of Londons (QMUL) buildings, both residential and academic, across all campuses. It is the departments priority to ensure all reactive and planned preventive maintenance works are executed to QMUL standards. The maintenance of QMUL buildings and services supports academic research and enhances the student experience.

We are looking for a Maintenance Multi Tradesperson who is fully proficient in carpentry trade and may have some competence in another trade, although this is not a requirement. The purpose of the role is to carry out maintenance tasks within the building trades, throughout the university premises with flexible working in associated trades where experience allows.

Typical maintenance tasks involve maintaining, repairing and improving the internal and external building assets as required by the Estates & Facilities Directorate, to a high quality standard for use by staff and students.

The successful candidates must hold a recognised trade qualification or have equivalent experience (this would usually be equivalent to NVQ Level 3, BTEC Level 4), provide evidence of practical experience of reactive and planned maintenance, knowledge of computer based facilities management and BMS Systems and have experience of working in a customer focused environment.

The post is fixed term contract for one year. The salary range for this post is £26,717 - £32,956 per annum. plus a benefits package which includes 30 days annual leave (pro rata), a defined benefit pension scheme and also an interest-free season ticket loan after a qualifying period.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.  Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
