Horizon Search and Selection Ltd are seeking a professional and compassionate Funeral Arranger to join a Bury St Edmunds-based Funeral Service Provider who have a long standing reputation for offering a truly caring and professional service. 

Youll be a key part of a small team of around 10 staff, and this is a busy and varied role which requires someone with prior experience of working with those who have been recently bereaved. That could be from the Funeral Industry, a Solicitors firm, Hospitals, Charities, Nursing or Care. 

Working in the funeral industry can be quite a balancing act. On the one hand, it's tough. On the other it's incredibly rewarding. Providing practical, hands-on care for the deceased of all ages and circumstances calls for high levels of understanding, empathy and compassion. Working alongside the deceased and their grieving relatives at times of high emotion and pressure isn't for everyone but its a real privilege to help during this most difficult time.  It takes a cool head and a warm heart, so please think carefully before you apply.

Duties will involve:
Funeral Arranging; working as part of a team of 3 Arrangers, sharing the workload and providing cover for colleagues if on leave/sick
Liaising with Receptionist over bereavements and funeral plans
Meeting and discussing funeral arrangements with next of kin
Administration, planning and co-ordination of funerals, taking into consideration families/NOK/the deceaseds wishes even if sometimes out of the ordinary
Accompany and support relatives when they visit to view the deceased
Being a main point of contact for families/next of kin during the funeral process
Following set procedures, ensuring legal and internal compliance
Using the funeral planning database (Eulogica) to log notes and follow processes
Handing over information and responsibility to Funeral Directors prior to funeral
Co-ordinating bespoke funeral requests as and when required
Reception/Front of House/Admin cover as required
Out of hours phone cover (on a rota with 3-5 other members of staff)
Assisting with pre-payment funeral plan enquiries (to act as cover for Director if on leave/sick); booking appointments, visiting clients, discussing their options and providing guidance/information, creating quotations for bespoke packages, ensuring the client is aware of the financial/legal side of their plan (training will be given and a pool car would be used when travel is necessary)
Attending training courses and undertaking in-house training as appropriate
Business support; as part of a small business, assisting with general duties as and when required; offering flexibility to support the businesses and customers needs

Requirements:

Driving license essential. Parking is available (off-site)
Ideally you will be Bury St Edmunds based or from the local surrounding villages
Previous experience within the funeral industry (preferable) or dealing with bereaved people
A diplomatic, professional, respectful manner a way with people, used to dealing with people from different backgrounds and of all ages. 
Good administrative, reporting and recording abilities high standard of literacy and a good level of IT ability
Superb attention to detail the ability to understand the importance of clients wishes and follow them through
A brilliant team work ethos; able to work as a key part of a busy team, helping out when required with ad hoc duties
Confident driver, ideally with good local geographical knowledge 
Plenty of initiative, confidence to ask questions and be pro-active in supporting the business 
Excellent organizational abilities
Provide a confidential, sensitive and discreet service
The adaptability and resilience to cope with a changeable and unpredictable workload, ranging from quiet one minute to immense pace and pressure the next
