Full Job Description
We are seeking a Teaching Fellow to join our Undergraduate Medical Education team, as part of our medical division. We are looking for a doctor who is passionate about teaching and committed to the development of our next generation of doctors in psychiatry. The role will also involve working in the Mental Health Liaison Team in Boston. The successful candidate will start on 3rd August 2026. This is a fixed term post of 1 year. Please note: this role is only open to applicants with the rights to work in the UK Main duties of the job This is an opportunity for an aspiring educator to be part of our multidisciplinary Undergraduate Teaching Team to build upon new initiatives and our successful work to date. You will play an integral part in developing and delivering the excellent teaching and clinical experience we offer to the 3rd year Medical Students, to enrich their learning experience. We lead by example with the educational experience we provide, using innovative teaching techniques to aid the development of the next generation of future doctors. The fellowship will be for a period of 12 months and will comprise of working in the Mental Health Liaison Team, to provide clinical experience to the Medical Students, from the University of Lincoln. You will also co-facilitate online and in-person teaching sessions, contributing to the development of clinical teaching, to meet the Medical Students' learning objectives, What we offer The service is supported by a multi-disciplinary team The opportunity to develop the role based on your interests and background. - MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Foundation year competency, with at least 4 months experience in psychiatry
- Interest in psychiatry, with further plans to pursue a career in psychiatry
- Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the General Medical Council (GMC) at intended start date Desirable
- Additional related qualifications e.g BSc, BA, BMedSci or equivalent (not including intercalated BSc or 'Honorary' MA). Clinical Skills, knowledge and experience Essential
- Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems.
- Demonstrates ability in basic skills of history taking, examination (mental and physical) and synthesis of findings.
- Demonstrates basic psychotherapeutic skills.
- Have confidence to complete new assessments. Skills Essential
- Ability to work in an MDT.
- Evidence of interest in, and experience of, teaching.
- Teach trainees in clinical settings.
- Previous UK medical teaching experience.
