We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic colleague who shares our vision of teaching as a vocation, and who will seize an exciting opportunity to work at Rugby School. The successful candidate will join a large department, teaching Learning Development lessons to students with SEND throughout the School. Teachers of Learning Development advocate for students with SEND, and contribute to the development their skills. In addition, they support and advise teaching and pastoral staff about the best approaches to supporting students with SEND and communicate with parents, previous schools and other stakeholders to ensure the best support for students with SEND.


Rugby School is delighted to offer all students the chance to study the IB, a programme closely aligned with our ethos of developing the whole person, alongside A Levels. Rugby is renowned for its highly successful and innovative approach to education. As a coaching school we are looking for staff who are committed to a professional obligation to improve as teachers and who value personal growth. We offer a varied programme of professional development, including in-house leadership courses for aspiring middle and senior leaders. Our aim is to ensure our colleagues are prepared well for the next step in their career.


The School is a boarding and day school in full operation seven days per week including evenings during term time. As a part time member of staff, the Teacher of Learning Development will not be expected to contributed to the pastoral or co-curricular aspects of School life, although the option to act as a pastoral tutor is available and comes with an additional allowance. As a consequence, this is a part time role amounting to 0.47 of a full time position. This represents a workload of 28 units out of a possible 60 per fortnight. The workload consists of some administrative work, coaching with students and their parents, and teaching lessons to small groups of roughly 6 students. This post does not come with accommodation.
