Full Job Description

We are looking for Support Workers (Relief) to join our team in our Supported Living services in Abergavenny and Caldicot. You will feel the reward of building lasting and trusting relationships with those you support, and the role will develop your communication and interpersonal skills, as well as your knowledge and networks within the support work role. These are flexible, permanent positions. Services need to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleeps ins as extra. This truly is an exciting opportunity for you to develop both personally and with your career., As Support Worker (Relief) you will be working with incredible individuals to support with day to day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support The individuals we support have different personalities with different likes and hobbies. You could be joining the people we support in going on long walks in the countryside, dancing to music, watching films, and going out and about in the community or to visit loved ones. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first-hand how you make a difference to them. A driving licence is not required for the role, but you will need to be able to get to and from different service locations. You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:

  • Medication administration
  • Manual handling support in some services
  • Cooking skills and other household skills
  • Support with personal care needs
  • Accessing the community and supporting to local groups
  • Supporting with individuals' hobbies and activities such as walking/hiking
  • Being a team player and having good communication skills
  • Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard
  • Supporting individuals to budget finances
  • Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing
  • Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence
  • Take the people we support out and about
  • Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties
  • Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working
  • Supporting Individuals with their individual needs

    A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;
