Due to retirement within the team we have an opportunity for a Supply Chain Lead to help to develop and enhance the delivery of our patient focused services strategy. The post holder will work predominantly at Calderdale Royal Hospital managing both the Materials Management team and the Receipt & Distribution Team. This is a vital role ensuring that wards and departments receive their medical/surgical consumable stock effectively. The post holder will also support materials management assistants that are aligned to inventory managed areas.
The need to work at pace whilst ensuring accuracy is critical to
ensure clinical staff have the necessary medical/surgical clinical consumables to deliver healthcare. Regular interaction with staff from all wards and departments is key so a friendly and can do attitude is required at all times to maintain our high level of customer service.
A team player attitude is essential as the daily challenges will require an individual who is flexible in their approach to the role. The successful candidate will need to form an excellent working relationship with the existing supervisor/manager team., · Be responsible for the organising, supervising and motivating of the Materials Management teams and Receipt & Distribution teams across sites.
· On a routine regular basis, ensure that goods are replenished on the wards / clinical areas via an effective 'top-up' service.
· Provide a source of information and specialist advice to customers and generally act as a focal point for all communication.
· Ability to react to situations promptly in order to solve complex issues with inventory and stock availability.
· Maintain appropriate materials management and stores records.

All provided to nationally recognised standards giving you assurance that your premises and equipment will be the best they can, and your customers will have confidence in you as a provider., + Oversee the day to day work of the Materials Management Staff across sites, arranging cover as required and setting workloads.
+ Carry out PDR's for the Materials Management Assistants.
+ Work closely with the Procurement teams and assist the Supply Chain Manager with providing data/reports when required and to pre-determined timescales.
+ Be the focal point for communication between Materials Management and the other areas of Procurement and Supplies. This will involve carrying out team briefs for Materials Management and Receipt and Distribution staff.
+ Liaise with senior Trust staff and the Procurement teams to ensure all products are cost effective to the Trust and participate in any trials as determined by the Supply Chain Manager.
+ Perform duties of the Receipt & Distribution team as and when required.
+ Critically analyse current processes and deliver improved working practices.
+ Ensure accurate data is input in to any inventory stock systems to enable precise financial audits.
+ Carry out a materials management arrangement as appropriate in accordance with established procedures and timescales.
+ Arrange cover within the Materials Management team and ensure this is adequate in times of annual leave/sickness.
+ Maintain HR records on ESR for the team.
+ Act as the Trust 'Super User' for Materials Management systems and processes.
+ Responsible for maintaining stock levels and rotation of locally held stock as appropriate and ensure stock does not exceed its 'use by' date.
+ Ensure that clinical incidents are reported and dealt with in accordance with the Trust's procedures, liaise with appropriate staff and keep records maintained.
+ When required represent the Trust on Materials Management issues with external organisations eg NHS Supply Chain.
+ Ensure that any credits owing from NHS Supply Chain are taken (eg there are shortfalls in delivery)
+ Advise customers of inabilities to supply, and offer alternatives where identified.
+ Advise customers of slow or non moving stocks and act appropriately for the benefit of the Trust.
+ Advise on consolidation and standardisation of products.
+ Use technology to download requirements and for ordering/receipting as appropriate
+ Contribute to the development and performance of the Materials Management Team and to the Trust's business plan by personally participating in training and development activities, and by suggesting areas of change within the department.
+ Ensure that a clean and safe working environment is maintained within the Materials Management and Stores area (including the loading bay)
+ Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with the Trust's Health & Safety policy.
+ Ensure that appropriate records are kept and filed on behalf of customers in accordance with audit procedures.
+ Resolve customer queries/complaints.
+ Build and maintain good customer relationships.
+ Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of products.
+ Liaise with end users to ensure NHSSC products are held in stock wherever possible.
+ Liaise with suppliers to make appropriate delivery arrangements.
+ Identify training needs for staff.
+ Any other duties which may be required from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department and an effective procurement service.
+ Work closely with other members in the Materials Management Team and with the Procurement Team.
+ Develop relationships with Trust colleagues.

You may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £42.90, Standard £22.90 or Basic £22.90) from your salary when you commence in post (including Internal staff). For Enhanced and Standard DBS checks you will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment.
