Full Job Description

We are recruiting a Staff Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team at Wenric House, our 21-bed low secure unit for male patients based at Littlemore Mental Health Centre in Oxford. Many of our service users have experience of the criminal justice system, and this role offers the opportunity to support patients on their recovery and rehabilitation journey within a safe, secure and supportive environment. You will work closely with the MDT to implement and evaluate individual care plans, supporting patients to achieve positive outcomes while maintaining high standards of compassionate, person-centred care. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills, a caring, non-judgemental and inclusive approach, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care. An interest in rehabilitation and recovery within forensic services is essential. Experience in a secure setting would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training and support will be provided.   • Make a systematic and comprehensive assessment/ re-assessment of client need within the CPA framework
  • Plan, implement and Evaluate Care, working as a primary nurse.
  • Coordinate Care Programme Approach Meetings
  • Produce reports for CPA, Managers Meetings and Mental Health Review Tribunals
  • Participate in Individual and Group Therapies
  • Develop effective risk management plans, and timely review of the risk management plan identifying opportunities for positive risk taking in conjunction with the client, carers/significant others and the ward team
  • Undertake a Carer's Assessment and develop Carer's care plans
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medication effects, side-effects, indications, contraindications and recommended dosage.
  • Work with clients with concordance issues and promote client choice.
  • The role involves working a rotating shift pattern of early, late and night shifts to cover our 24 hour 7 day a week service. Please note if you are based outside of the UK you will need to be fully qualified, have already passed your OSCE and have an NMC pin number in order to be considered for this role. It is mandatory for you to complete Positive Engagement and Caring Environment (PEACE) training and other training directly related to the job.
