Full Job Description

The Specialist Health Visitor for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH) will provide expert clinical leadership across the Families Health & Wellbeing Service (0-19) in Staffordshire, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to infants, parents and families. The post holder will act as a specialist resource for practitioners, leading on the development, implementation and evaluation of PIMH practice, policies and pathways. They will promote early intervention, prevention of escalation, and improved outcomes through strengthening parent-infant relationships and supporting mental health and wellbeing from pregnancy through infancy. The role requires autonomous practice, advanced clinical knowledge, and strong partnership working across multidisciplinary teams and agencies to deliver integrated, person-centred care aligned with the Healthy Child Programme., As a Specialist Health Visitor in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, you will:

  • Act as the clinical expert and lead for PIMH within the 0-19 Service
  • Provide specialist advice and support to our health visitors to enable them to support families re perinatal and infant mental health.
  • Lead on early intervention, prevention and the promotion of healthy attachment and parent-infant relationships
  • Support delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, with a focus on transition to parenthood
  • Develop and implement evidence-based pathways, policies and best practice
  • Deliver training, supervision and workforce development to build PIMH capability across teams
  • Work collaboratively with midwifery, mental health services, primary care, social care and voluntary sector partners
  • Use data, feedback and research to drive quality improvement and service development
