Full Job Description
The post holder will undertake appropriate mental health assessment and clinical intervention for children and young people referred to service. The post holder will hold high risk cases within the Team, monitor, review and appropriately Care Plan for these young people.
The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person. The post holder with provide clinical supervision to other members of staff within the CYPMH East Team. The post holder will be involved in Team development, audit and Quality Initiatives within the CYPMH East.
Work as an integral part of a consultant led specialist CAMHS Sector Team.
Undertake assessments of problems and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions and advice to children and/or their families/carers.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in addition to working as a sole practitioner, contributing to assessment and treatment decisions.
Ensure that clinical work is determined by best evidence based practice and available guidelines, displays clear and logical structure in its implementation and is subject to reflection and evaluation.
Deliver services within a hospital setting and community venues.
Provide clinical supervision to other practitioners within the Service.
Be involved in Service audits, service development initiatives

CYPMH East is part of the Children and Young Peoples Mental Health provision within Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust. East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service (ELCAS) and Children and Young Peoples Psychology Service (CYPPS) recently merged (October 1st 2025) to become CYPMH East. This is an exciting time of service development as this has brought about a single point of access for NHS childrens mental health within East Lancashire. It has brought together two disciplines within significant experience and a wide range of skills and so it is an exciting time for practitioners and patients within the Service.
CYPMH East has a range of mental health provision including a Primary Mental Health Team, Mental Health Support Teams across the localities, three Complex Sector Teams, and a Day Unit. We are a consultant led Service and we emphasise the strength of working in a multi-disciplinary way. Our main base is at Burnley General Hospital.
There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within East Lancashire.
