Full Job Description

Newhaven Community ward is a 34 bedded rehabilitation unit in Newhaven, East Sussex. We are seeking to recruit motivated, Health Care Assistants to join our supportive and compassionate team. At Newhaven we promote a safe, caring and professional environment, with an aim of supporting patient's independence. All Healthcare Assistants will be supported through the care certificate and there are opportunities for career development through the apprenticeship scheme. The right candidates will be patient focused and forward thinking, well organised and have a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. We work on a system of internal rotation of shifts including weekends and night duty.,

  • To assist patients to carry out personal care including meeting hygiene, nutrition and continence needs
  • To assist in the physical rehabilitation of patients and to encourage independence and mobility where appropriate
  • Taking and recording of temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight on instruction from the qualified nurse. Recording the results appropriately and reporting any abnormalities to the Nurse or Nurse in Charge
  • Testing specimens and recording the results
  • Under the supervision of the qualified nurse, support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety
  • To restock departmental areas as required reporting any shortages to the nurse in charge/ ward manager
  • To adhere to the policy for the Control of Infection
  • To maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business
  • To participate in quality assurance programmes as required
  • To participate in the promotion of a positive learning environment and to act as a role model at all times
  • To be aware of and contribute to Clinical Governance arrangements/issues for area of work
