Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Oncology as a Senior Clinical Researcher in Experimental Medicine to lead research into liquid biopsy approaches for cancer detection. We are seeking a clinician with a substantial record of achievement in the clinical application of liquid biopsy technologies relevant to cancer. You will have a track record of leading research and of delivering multidisciplinary international translational research in this field. You will work within and complement the already extensive programme of basic and translational cancer research in Oxford and develop new collaborations within the city and across the world. You will closely work with a number of different teams within the translational research groups of the Department of Oncology, in particular the Translational Histopathology Laboratory and Molecular Diagnostics Centre. Although the post holder must be clinically qualified it is not expected that they work clinically, but they must be eligible to hold a non-medical honorary contract at Oxford University Hospitals.

You will be a clinician at NHS consultant level or hold equivalent qualification and experience. You will hold evidence of distinction in cancer liquid biopsy research through the quality of your publications and national and international esteem indicators. Hold experience of, and a commitment to, embedding the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion among staff and students. You will possess strong track record of gaining substantial external income for basic and/or translational cancer research from national competitive funding bodies, industry and other partners. You will have substantial track record in developing, executing and reporting large scale clinical trials of cancer diagnostics and/or therapeutics. You will be required to possess commitment to contributing to Departmental and wider academic life.
