Full Job Description

The appointee will share the responsibility for the assessment, resuscitation and treatment of all patients referred to the Critical Care Unit, working as part of a team which includes the on-call ICU consultant. The new appointee will be expected to see patients in the Emergency Department, theatre recovery and the wards following referral from colleagues in other specialities. The appointee will take responsibility for ensuring their ongoing medical education as agreed at Directorate level. They will share the responsibility for direct clinical supervision and teaching of the trainee staff, nurse clinicians and medical students. They will be allocated an Educational Supervisor. They will be expected to participate in an active audit programme. There will be the opportunity to develop skills in transthoracic echocardiography up to the level of FICE accreditation. There will be the opportunity to participate in simulation based teaching and training.
