Full Job Description

  • Contribute to school improvement planning and self-evaluation with a focus on SEND.
  • Develop and implement the SEND strategy aligned with the Trust's vision and values.
  • Be responsible and oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability.
  • Maintain accurate SEND registers and provision maps.
  • Coordinate Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) cycles for pupils with SEND.
  • Lead EHCP processes, Annual Reviews, and liaise with the Local Authority.
  • Essential Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete).

  • An advocate for inclusive practice and high-quality SEND provision within a primary school setting.
  • Organised and reliable, with strong attention to detail, particularly when managing documentation and statutory processes.
  • A confident and professional communicator, able to work effectively with pupils, parents/carers, staff and external professionals.
  • Able to work collaboratively with class teachers and support staff to identify needs and implement appropriate strategies and interventions.
  • Skilled in monitoring and evaluating pupil progress and in using this information to inform provision and outcomes for pupils with SEND.
  • Comfortable managing EHCP processes, reviews and liaising with external agencies, or willing to develop these skills.
  • Willing to learn, reflect and engage in continued professional development, including SEND-specific training.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare, wellbeing and inclusion of all pupils.

  • Grade: Leadership 1, £20,709 (actual) 0.4 FTE , 52 weeks a year. Working pattern: Flexible, can be discussed at point of interview To lead, manage, and develop high-quality SEND provision across one or more schools within Learn Academies Trust, ensuring inclusive practice and excellent outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
