Desian Education are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port that is at the heart of it's local community as they require a motivated and experienced SEN teaching assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis from September. This school has a pupil within the year 2 class that has a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal that requires 1:1 support throughout the day.
This is an extremely rewarding and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the support of a pupil with profound needs. This school is also considering a temporary to permanent appointment for the right individual.

Your new role:
As a teaching assistant within this school you will be the main point of contact for a pupil in the year 2 class with a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal. This is an extremely loving young pupil but due to their needs they are struggling to integrate with pupils and are not able to access the curriculum. To support their development you will act as their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate, walking them back to their grown up at the end of the day, and liaise with their grown up on their needs, progress and further requirements. You will have the full support of the SLT team to implement an array of strategies to promote behaviours, integration and communication including the use of Makaton, PECs etc, and report directly to the SENCO. You will also work as part of a multidisciplinary team including speech and language therapists, giving valid input during meetings as you will be acting as a "key worker" for this pupil.

Full "Right to Work" in the UK
- Experience supporting young people with SEN within a classroom or residential setting, ASD and non-verbal is highly essential
- Use of PECS, Makaton and other visual references is essential
- Be able to commit to a full-time contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week
- An Enhanced Children's DBS certificate of willingness to obtain
