Full Job Description
Pield Heath House School is a non-maintained school for children and young people aged 7-19 years with a range of additional needs including speech and language and communication disorders, sensory regulation difficulties and associated behaviours.
(Permanent) SEN Teacher - MPS/UPS (Outer London)
We are seeking teachers who are passionate about inclusive education and committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with a diverse range of additional needs to join our multi-disciplinary team.
The successful candidate(s) will:
· Plan and deliver individualised and engaging lessons that consider cognitive, communication, and sensory profiles.
· Lead and manage a class team to ensure a consistent and person-centred approach across the day.
· Work collaboratively with therapists and other professionals to embed therapeutic strategies into daily teaching.
· Use augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) including high-tech (e.g., communication devices/apps) and low-tech systems (e.g., PECS, Sign-Along, visual supports).
· Build strong relationships with families and contribute positively to home-school communication.
· Make meaningful contributions in annual reviews and Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.
We are looking for candidate(s) who:
· Are a qualified teacher with proven SEN experience, ideally in a special school setting.
· Has extensive experience with AAC systems - both high-tech and low-tech.
· Has experience teaching students with complex and severe learning needs and managing behaviours positively using PBS principles.
· Is skilled in multidisciplinary collaboration and embedding therapeutic/regulation strategies into teaching.
· Can lead, inspire, and support a class team to deliver high-quality, consistent care and education.
· Is confident in working with parents/carers and supporting EHCP processes.
