About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team in a vibrant SEN school. English The role includes planning and delivering English Lessons at Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 in small, mixed-age classes (usually up to 10 students) and working with a multidisciplinary team to support holistic outcomes. In the Lower Senior School, students follow the National Curriculum adapted to individual needs of the students. In the Upper Senior School, students are working towards qualifications ranging from Functional Skills Entry Level 1 through to English Language GCSEs. Drama The role includes planning and delivering content at Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 in small, mixed-age classes (usually around 10 students) and working with a multidisciplinary team to support holistic outcomes. In the Lower Senior School, students follow a foundational drama curriculum, adapted from the National Curriculum, to meet the individual needs of the students with a focus on developing a love and understanding of drama with preparation for future qualifications. In the Upper Senior School, students work towards either BTEC Level 1 Introductory in Performing Arts or RSL Level 2 in Performing Arts. All SEN teachers at AHS deliver lessons with embedded therapeutic approaches. This is achieved through therapy that is integrated into every aspect of the school day; in lessons, structured daily routines and through interactions between staff and students. Teaching staff receive regular CPD and work closely with our therapy team to ensure therapeutic strategies are consistently and confidently applied. About the Applicant We are looking for someone who:
  • Is secondary trained with QTS.
  • Is flexible, creative, and passionate about student-centred learning.
  • Has high expectations for student progress and wellbeing.
  • Works well in a collaborative team.
  • Has experience or a strong interest in SEN education.
  • Is confident using ICT to support learning (ideally Google Suite).
