Within ISD, the Information Security Group (ISG) leads on all aspects of security at UCL. This post is in ISG's Security operations team, which has primarily responsibility for security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence. About the role

  • Please note that this role is only available to UCL employees and we cannot consider external applicants
  • This is an excellent opportunity within our information security services team to help support the delivery of a comprehensive set of information security services to the UCL community. You key task will be to help maintain and develop a number of security solutions to help better support a number of the core university requirements. In tandem, proactively identifying security weaknesses and recommending appropriate strategies to mitigate these. Additionally, you will be required to support and identify the security capability, requirements and options for meeting these. whilst dealing with our main vendors.

    To be considered you must have the following skills & experience:
  • Solid experience of working in an engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM solutions, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management platforms, and other security technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and attack vectors
  • Experience in writing accurate, well-structured documents and reports aimed at both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience in customer care with an ability to interact with customers in a tactful and friendly manner
  • Demonstrable ability to manage problems through to resolution using uncertain and incomplete information
  • Desirable skills would include:
  • Experience in developing and implementing information security strategy
  • Relevant qualification (GIAC, CISSP, etc.) or equivalent professional experience
  • Commitment to and knowledge of advancing equality, diversity and inclusion
