Full Job Description

  • Negotiating deals directly and with our co-agents across assigned territories and recording of interest, submissions and title activity on Bradbury Philips.

  • Liaising regularly with clients, international publishers, co-agents and scouts

  • Managing authors' contracts, payments and publication in assigned markets, sending out press material and updates, coordinating publicity trips abroad for clients

  • Contributing to the creation of the right lists for international book fairs

  • Evaluating manuscripts and developing submission strategies for assigned markets

  • Attending author events and representing the Agency at book fairs (particularly London and Frankfurt) as well as other industry events.

  • Creating, updating and managing submissions; creating and updating pitch materials

  • Consistently building and maintaining market awareness in assigned territories

    An avid reader of commercial crime, thrillers and popular fiction

  • Loves the world of international publishing and rights selling

  • Keen interest in and knowledge of publishing trends here and in overseas markets

  • Enjoys meeting people and is able to confidently and swiftly develop a rapport with agency authors and publishers, while also building new relationships and networks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A proactive self-starter with a keen eye for detail

  • Thrives in a small but busy team and is able to juggle a large and varied workload

  • Able to work autonomously as well as in a team environment

  • Commercially driven, At least 2 years relevant experience working in Rights/Sales

  • Verbal and written fluency in English

  • Knowledge of other languages is a plus.

  • Experience with Bradbury Philips is desirable but not essential - training will be provided if required.

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively.

  • Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

    Based in London, Darley Anderson & Associates is a dynamic literary agency and represents bestselling and award-winning fiction authors for the commercial market. The Rights team are looking for a Rights Agent to join the team to help represent our outstanding list to publishing partners around the world. The role would cover Rights sales in multiple territories including Scandinavia, the Baltics and Asia. This job would suit a Rights Assistant or Executive who has been in a relevant industry sector for at least two years, with a good understanding and knowledge of international rights, some sales and deal-making experience and looking for their next challenge.
