Full Job Description

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT) have an exciting opportunity for a Qualified nurse employed as a Recovery Worker to join the Drug and Alcohol Service.

As part of Torbay Recovery Initiatives, the role is to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people referred with a coexisting and identified drug/alcohol problem and move them through a treatment leading to sustainable recovery from all substances of misuse.

Torbay Recovery Initiatives is part of Growth in Action the wider complex needs alliance in Torbay made up of Torbay Domestic Abuse Services and the local homeless hostel.

Main duties of the job

Undertake comprehensive assessments that includes physical health needs, risk assessments, DSNA (dependants Service needs assessment) assessments, to plan and implement interventions to meet the identified need with the service user and to ensure that those clients on their caseload are reviewed regularly in line with their Individual Care Plan and pathway

Undertake training to become a skilled practitioner utilising trauma informed approach to practice

Provide a range of clinical and psychosocial interventions. These would normally include comprehensive care planning, drug screening, breathalysing, monitoring prescribing interventions, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention

Provide or oversee the Hepatitis B vaccinations of clients on their caseload and BBV screening and as appropriate refer to specialist services as required

Participate in local audit processes as and when required

Act as a mentor for students and other learners and facilitate learning opportunities for all professionals regarding issues relating to Drug and Alcohol use

If you are a Non-medical Prescriber that they prescribe within own competencies, to prescribe and review medications in accordance with the Royal Pharmaceutical Societies Single Competency Framework, Local policy and guidelines

Torbay Recovery Initiatives (TRI) drug and alcohol service is looking for a Recovery Worker to join our passionate and friendly team.

The usual hours of works are Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

You will be joining a warm and highly supportive multi-disciplinary team of dedicated colleagues who work together to offer the best possible service to the people they serve. Excellent communication skills are required and an ability to liaise with all stakeholders involved, including people accessing the service, carers, third sector providers and other services and agencies

The TRI service is part of the Growth in Action (GIA) alliance which includes our local Homelessness Hostel delivered by Torbay Council and Torbay Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS) which is delivered by Sanctuary. Therefore, knowledge in these areas would also be beneficial. GIA employs a trauma-informed approach for those who access our services but also assumes that all of us have potentially experienced trauma and therefore key principles should be applied throughout our daily work.
