Full Job Description
Do you like a challenge and enjoy working within a busy and varied role? We are looking for a motivated individual who is able to work under pressure and juggle a varied workload within our Planning Support team. This includes the validation/processing of planning and tree works applications, the registration of permitted development and pre-application advice enquiries, administrative support for Planning Committee and Appeals and dealing with planning enquiries from the general public. The Planning Support Team provides all of the administrative support primarily to the Development Management function of Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils. The role is based at Malvern, however, as the team forms part of a shared service. It is possible to be based in the Malvern office but expected to provide cover in Pershore, as and when required., The two councils have a shared Chief Executive and a joint senior management team. Whilst they retain their own political structures and distinct identities, the joint management structure allows us to maximise the opportunity to deliver a wide range of good value services to our customers and communities, and operate and develop shared services, collaborative working and partnership arrangements with each other, with other councils and with key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have:
- Good standard of education, including GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
- IT literate and familiar with using Windows, Word, Excel and document management systems.
- Ability to work well within a team and using own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer care skills are also essential.
- Administrative experience in a multi-disciplined unit and is able to undertake a wide range of administrative duties.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage time effectively is essential for this role.
- Experience of working within a busy office environment and have the ability to organise a large workload.
- Experience of processing planning applications would be advantageous, but this is not essential, as training will be given.
