Full Job Description
Rivington and Blackrod High School and Sixth Form is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated Pastoral Year Lead to join our large pastoral team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience of working with young people, families and external agencies to play a key role in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will take a proactive approach to promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance and punctuality, and fostering a culture of high expectations. Working with a designated year group within Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 or Key Stage 5, the successful applicant will provide tailored pastoral support, helping students to thrive both academically and personally. Year group allocation will be determined by the successful candidate's experience, skills and strengths.
A core aspect of the role will be ensuring the safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing of all students. You will promote high standards of behaviour and conduct, effectively manage incidents when they arise, and work closely with students to build confidence, resilience and self-belief. Through strong relationships and effective guidance, you will empower students to make positive choices regarding their learning, attendance and behaviour, while encouraging independence.
The role also involves supporting students' social, emotional, health and personal development, working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes. Accurate record keeping, including the use of CPOMS and other school systems, will be essential in monitoring student progress and maintaining effective communication.
