Full Job Description
Operations Assistant (Yard) - The Timber Group (TTG) Herringswell - Right in the action - helping the yard run clean, safe and on point
We're a driven bunch, and that shows in everything we do.
We're always looking for ways to do things better than we did yesterday - because being the first choice for our customers and a great place to work for our team is what we're all about.
At The Timber Group, people matter. You're recognised, respected, and remembered - and in return, it's our people who earn the trust of customers, teammates and the communities we serve.
Our loyal customers stick with us because we build strong relationships. We listen, we deliver, and we go the extra mile to make sure they leave happy.
As an Operations Assistant, you'll help keep the yard clean, safe and running smoothly while making sure customers get friendly, reliable service. You'll be part of a supportive team that works together to keep things moving and make every customer's experience a good one.
What You'll Be Doing:
+ Pick orders across carcassing, sheets, joinery, and PAR - accurately and efficiently
+ Keep the yard clean, tidy and well-organised, with stock clearly labelled
+ Flag low stock levels to the team
+ Help out with general housekeeping to keep the space safe and neat
+ Operate forklifts safely and responsibly, following all health and safety guidelines
+ Assist with picking and loading company vehicles when needed
+ Communicate with the team to keep things running smoothly
+ Jump in with any other tasks that help get the job done
We're happy to explore flexible working options. Feel free to chat with us about it during the interview. While we might not be able to meet every request, we'll always listen with an open mind - and there's no judgment in asking
You'll need to be comfortable reading paperwork and keeping records accurate, working outdoors in all kinds of weather and managing your time well when working solo. Staying on top of health and safety and following company procedures is a must to keep things running safely and smoothly.
We offer on-the-job training and opportunities to work towards recognised qualifications, including apprenticeships.
At Huws Gray, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce makes us stronger, smarter and better at serving our customers.
We're proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to creating a respectful and inclusive workplace, whether you're based in one of our branches, on the road or in one of our offices.
If you need any adjustments to support you through the application or interview process, please let us know.
What's In It For You:
We believe great work should be recognised and rewarded. Here's what you can expect:
+ 23 days' holiday, plus bank holidays (31 days per year)
+ Company bonus scheme, based on performance
+ Contributory pension and life assurance
+ Discounts on high street retailers, supermarkets, restaurants, gyms and cinemas
+ Colleague discount across our group brands
+ Attraction and travel discounts
+ Training and development programmes to support your growth
