Full Job Description

Bolton Council is looking to recruit two skilled technicians/ mechanics to join our Fleet Management team.

Working in our modern workshop, duties include maintaining the Council's varied fleet of vehicles including vans, tippers, welfare buses, gulley wagons, gritters and refuse vehicles.

The successful candidate will work the following, 2 shift patterns on a rotational basis

Essential Requirements - current valid driving licence, Qualification Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds qualification (Light or Heavy Goods Vehicles), Successful applicants will hold a Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds qualification (Light or Heavy Goods Vehicles) and have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a motor vehicle technician or mechanic. You must have a comprehensive toolbox and a valid driving licence; possession of a category C (LGV) & D1 (minibus) licence would be an advantage, but not essential.

You should take pride in your work and have the ability to work efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.

You should enjoy working as part of a team, but also be able to use your own initiative and work with minimal supervision. You should have good written and verbal communication skills and a proactive attitude towards Health & Safety., This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.

Shift Pattern 07.00 am to 3.30 pm & 08.30 am to 5.00pm

Grade G Scp 23 £32,076 to Scp 27 £35,745 plus Tool Allowance of £34.21 per month

Permanent Contract, · Day Shift 1 - 7am - 3.30pm (Monday to Thursday) & 7am - 3pm (Friday)

· Day Shift 2 - 8.30am - 5pm (Monday to Thursday) & 8.30am - 4.30pm (Friday), Post holders will benefit from a tool allowance and laundry service, in addition to a competitive salary. Regular overtime is also available at weekends and bank holidays.
