Full Job Description
We are looking for one-year fixed term maternity cover for public health practitioner sitting within the Inclusion Health portfolio of public health. The role will be responsible for the seamless delivery of:
- adult mental health and suicide prevention initiatives;
- tackling the underlying causes of serious violence;
- targeted public health interventions to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities for marginalised groups; and
- workplace wellbeing initiatives., ensure seamless delivery of public mental health and suicide prevention initiatives, reducing health inequalities, and fostering partnerships;
- work across multi-disciplinary and multi-agency groups that bridges clinical services and community-wide prevention to reduce mental health inequalities;
- provide operational leadership for the local Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) and Community Safety Partnership, and work towards a multi-agency, trauma-informed approach to tackle the underlying causes of serious violence, while ensuring the local system meets the statutory requirements of the Serious Violence Duty;
- drive workplace wellbeing initiatives, such as mental health support, physical activity, and preventative health campaigns;
- drive targeted public health interventions to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities for marginalised groups (e.g., people experiencing homelessness, sex workers, Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller communities, and vulnerable migrants); and
- Work with wider public health team to support delivering overlapping public health priorities.
The applicant should be eligible to work in the United Kingdom for the duration of the appointment as the role is not eligible for sponsorship. We are looking for a candidate with practical public health experience of minimum two years. Due to this being a maternity cover, you should be able to pickup the workload immediately, therefore we expect the candidate to have adequate experience of delivering Public mental health and serious violence duty.
