Locum Consultant Paediatrician

This is a full time (10 PA) locum post. It will be based at across sites with clinics at both Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospitals. Job share would be considered, 5 PAs per candidate The Paediatric department has been successful in getting approval to expand their consultant presence by new consultants to meet the future workload to deliver safe high quality care to all children in Buckinghamshire with a particular focus on our trust care values. We are seeking a keen, dynamic general paediatrician with a special interest that will compliment the current team The post holder will carry out both general paediatric and neonatal duties and will participate in the overnight on-call consultant rota . There will also be weekend evening " twilight" shifts in the Paediatric ED to support the middle grades and help protect capacity.Main duties of the job The successful candidate will join a team of consultants and will undertake inpatient and outpatient work in neonates and general paediatrics including inpatients and children admitted to the observation ward. In these areas we have attending weeks. On call activities on a pro-rata basis. In addition to the general paediatrics this post holder will also have specialist clinics in their subs peciality . There will be 3 clinics every week across both hospitals ensuring local access for patients .There will be an opportunity depending on the specialist interest of the candidate to organise specialist clinics and develop a service they feel will benefit the children of Buckinghamshire . Time for service development will be given in the job plan . The post holder will be Paediatrician of the week (POW) and Neonatologist of the week (NOW) totalling 7 a year. There will also be attending weeks for the children's observation unit and the number of these will be confirmed on appointment (between 1.5-3.5 weeks depending on restructure of the rota) During these days s/he will have no other clinical commitments The post holder will have resident duties doing "Twilight" shifts from 1600-2200 within the Children's Emergency Department. This will be a weekend twilight shift to cover the Friday to Sunday evenings for 4 weekends a year to ensure that college standards for facing the future are fully met.
