Full Job Description
Applications are invited for the Locally Employed Doctor (Higher) post for Diabetes and Endocrine at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The post will involve providing care for general medical inpatients on ward 8 at Good Hope Hospital and participation in the out of hours on call rota. There will be the opportunity to support Diabetes inpatient ward rounds across the hospital site and exposure to a range of specialist Diabetes and Endocrine outpatient clinics. Other duties include fielding specialist referrals and providing clinical support and teaching to junior doctors caring for medical inpatients. The post would particularly suit someone planning to commence training in diabetes and endocrinology.,
- To ensure a safe and high standard of care for general medical patients on wards
- Provide Diabetes and Endocrine specialist support to other inpatient teams when required
- Participate in Diabetes and Endocrine outpatient clinics
- Provide support to Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) team and relevant Allied Health Professionals (AHP)
- Support learning and development of more junior medical staff and medical students
- Contribute to Diabetes and Endocrine MDTs, board round, audit and medical hot case review meetings
