Full Job Description

Our six group offices - Labour, Conservative, Reform UK, Liberal Democrat, Independent and Green Party, play a vital role in supporting councillors across England and Wales. As Head of the LGA Green Party Group Office, you will shape the support for and impact of Green Party councillors at the LGA. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of a growing and influential political group, helping to establish and develop their presence within the organisation. You will work closely with the LGA Green Party Group Leader, Group Executive and wider membership, ensuring councillors are informed, confident and fully equipped to make an impact across the LGA's boards and committees. As part of the LGA's Extended Leadership Forum, you will also help drive forward wider organisational priorities, campaigns and partnerships, working collaboratively across the political spectrum to deliver meaningful outcomes., We use anonymous recruitment, which is the practice of hiding candidates' identities. This process involves removing any identifying information from candidates' applications which includes names.   • Our benefits LGA annual leave entitlement is 29 days, rising to 31 days after three years' service and to 33 days after five years' service, plus all UK public holidays (pro rata for fixed term and part time contracts).
  • Flexible & agile working - office-based staff are required to work in the LGA's London office two days per week as a minimum, subject to business need and this may vary significantly between different roles and from week to week.     This is a senior and influential role requiring strong political awareness including of different political cultures and values, and a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing local government. You will bring: - A proven track record of leadership and delivery at a senior level - Strong, credible relationships with politicians, senior leaders and partners - Strategic thinking combined with the ability to act quickly and decisively - Confidence in providing clear, authoritative advice in a dynamic environment - Experience of business and budget planning, and leading a high-performing team Most importantly, you will be a trusted and inspiring leader, able to build confidence and influence at every level.
