Diss Swim Centre has been part of the community of Diss for a long time and continues to offer a great customer experience. We are looking to welcome a Leisure Assistant / Lifeguard to our friendly and highly successful team. Every day at Diss Swim Centre is different and with a rolling shift patten you will always be working with different people, and the various activities and timetables will keep you on your toes.

The role will involve supervising the pool and other activities, ensuring the safety of all users by taking preventative measures and action as necessary. It will also involve providing operational support as and when needed to facilitate the smooth running of the centre, including cleaning, setting up for activity bookings, centre tours and reception duties. You will also be involved in assisting swim teachers with lessons as required, stock checks, health and safety checks, and will be required to provide necessary first aid when necessary. The role provides regular training to maintain skills and expertise and attain and maintain validation of competence.

Dealing with the public is the key element of this role, always ensuring that great customer service is provided. Our teams work across our leisure centres, so you need to be able to have your own means transport and enjoy this flexible working style.

With a keen interest in leisure, the successful candidate will have the ability to inspire, motivate and encourage people through fitness. You will have great communication, tact, teamwork and customer service skills, and have an understanding of safeguarding requirements. Previous experience in a leisure centre, together with experience of providing great customer service would be ideal.

An RLSS/NPLQ National Pool Lifeguard and a First Aid Qualification are mandatory for this position. However, candidates who do not currently hold these, and who are willing and capable of attaining these qualifications within the first two months of joining will also be considered.

You will need to be able to work a combination of early, day and late shifts on a rota basis over a seven-day period to accommodate the centre's opening hours.

We offer flexible working hours for most office-based roles, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. As part of our team, you will enjoy a range of employee benefits, including free onsite parking, employee discounts, a competitive holiday allowance, wellbeing initiatives, and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

You will be joining a progressive and supportive organisation that is committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve.
