KS2 Teaching Assistant - St Helens

Desian Education is recruiting an exceptional KS2 Teaching Assistant on behalf of a supportive primary school in St Helens.

You will work full-time providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 2 pupil with ADHD and challenging behaviour.

Your role is critical in helping this pupil manage their emotions, stay focused on tasks, and access the curriculum effectively.

This long-term position spans the entire academic year, with a strong possibility of being extended or transitioning into a permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with ADHD, keeping them engaged in learning.
Manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively using positive reinforcement.
De-escalate difficult situations using established behaviour management strategies.
Implement focus intervals and tailored breaks to help the pupil regulate attention.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver individual behaviour plans.

Previous experience working in a primary school in a similar 1:1 behaviour support role.
Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, assertive, and resilient approach.
Good understanding of ADHD and how it impacts learning and social interaction in KS2.
Ability to build strong rapport and trust with pupils who display challenging behaviour.
