Full Job Description

All colleagues within the College contribute to the success of our students and we actively work to eliminate any barriers at work, ensuring you have the opportunity to thrive., Ensure that statutory and regulatory requirements and good practice around data protection are implemented across the College and its subsidiary companies, via the implementation of the data protection action plan. This includes ensuring compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 2018, Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and all guidance and best practice published by the Information Commissioner's Office.

The action plan will develop a college-wide Information Governance Framework to transform the way that we govern our use and storage of data. The Framework will provide a cohesive structure for managing and using data that can be understood and used by all staff. It will bring together different elements of data management, including storage, sharing and retention.

The Information Governance Project Manager will play a key part in co-creating, managing, and evolving the Framework and implementing and embedding new information governance processes. This role will build pivotal relationships across the College, embedding data management and assurance practices into everyday operations.

This will be a highly visible and impactful role.

What will the job entail?

Managing the implementation, development, review and maintenance of the data protection action plan for the College and that of its subsidiary companies.

This includes:

Developing and implementing appropriate data protection systems and processes. including in relation to Data Protection Impact Assessments, data sharing and data retention.

Supporting directors with the maintenance and review of the Information Asset Register.

Reviewing and relaunching the College's Data Retention Schedule.

Working with colleagues in the College's subsidiary companies to review and implement proportionate data protection frameworks.

Conducting bespoke training for departments in relation to data storage, retention and sharing.

Assisting the DPO with the review of procedures, policies, privacy notices and contracts relating to processing of personal information.

Managing and maintaining the College's compliance with Freedom of Information legislation, schedule and requests.

Overseeing full digitisation of historic paper archives where appropriate.

Additionally:

Adopting a pro-active and integrated approach to Information Governance to ensure the College and its subsidiary companies meet their statutory and regulatory obligations.

Advising colleagues on matters related to data privacy legislation and having due regard for risks relating to processing operations as well as the nature, scope, context and purposes of processing.

Assisting in related audits.

Managing responses to Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information Requests
