Full Job Description

We are recruiting to fixed term posts from NHFT staff bank to cover maternity leave, and you would be based at the Welland Centre for Adult Mental Health, Kettering. We are recruiting compassionate and motivated Health Care Assistants (HCAs) to join our Adult Mental Health Inpatient wards at St Mary's Hospital.You will be part of an Outstanding CQC-rated Trust committed to delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate care for adults aged 18-65 who are experiencing acute mental health needs. This role involves working within an inpatient environment that can be fast-paced, rewarding and emotionally demanding. You will play a vital part in supporting patients' recovery, maintaining safety, and contributing to therapeutic ward environments. Full training, supervision and development opportunities are provided .if you can demonstrate the right values., As a Health Care Assistant, you will:

  • Support patients with daily activities, personal care, and escorted leave
  • Carry out physical and mental health observations
  • Provide meaningful 1:1 time and contribute to therapeutic activities
  • Assist in the de-escalation of incidents and help maintain a safe ward environment
  • Support the Health Based Place of Safety when required
  • Record information accurately on clinical systems
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Respond calmly and professionally to highly emotive or challenging situations
  • Work a 24/7 rotational shift pattern, including days, nights and weekends
  • Assist with all activities in relation to supporting the ward environment and clinical team
